I worked really late last night! YAY. heh. Sounds weird? Yeah maybe. It was fun though!
Today, the store had a VIP comin in. This of course means the store MUST be cleaned top to bottom with a tooth brush and magnifier! Because of this, they started to hold everyone over their scheduled time. Then, they started to hold everyone for overtime. {Does not happen very often, but when they need to they will}
I was suppose to be there from 5-12. This was late as it was. I had never before been there that late, at least not on the clock!
Pretty much the latest I can remember was 11 when I was SC.
The desk closes at 11. I had already been cleaning for a good part of the day, cause it was rather slow at the desk and up until 9 there were three of us there. 12 came and went, and I was told that there was still a ton of cleaning to be done. I had no clue how late I was going to be staying, but I was really ok with it. heh. I wanted to see what the night crew was like. In some dept, the night crew is…um…odd? heh.
I know some of the night crew from my days as SC, where I was there until they all came in. {One of them, after we talked about why I came back and all, asked “So, you have not been working with me, so you would be able to answer this better. Have I changed at all? Am I fatter? Older?” rofl!! It really shocked me at first….but not so much when I stopped and thought about the person asking. She has always been like that. BTW…the answer was no to both.}
Others were staying behind to clean as well. One of the newer girls and I started talking early on in the night. We had already been kidding and joking around while the desk was open and she was doing some of the normal cleaning. Once the desk was closed down, and we had things to do like sign making, re-taping the rugs, refilling credit aps on the lanes and other random things, it gave us a chance to get to know one another a bit.
Like I said, it was a ton of fun. Let me tell you…..Goo Gone at one in the morning….funny stuff!! We were in giggles most of the time we cleaned with it!! While we were cleaning the Service office, she went out the door and saw one of the cashiers waiting to punch in from break. The cashier did not look at all happy, and ‘my cleaning partner’ {we dubbed ourselves cleaning partners and would not take any job that two people could not do! lol} first told her to smile then, when she did not get the response she wanted, grabbed the bottle of goo off and took it out to her. “Here,…..smell this. It smells so good!! Its funny!” {NO, we were not “sniffing” the cleaner….but it does really smell nice and leave a good aroma in the newly cleaned room. We kept joking that we HAD to leave the door open so we did not get high!} I don’t think the cashier got it!
Oh the things we do for our store! We cleaned the dust out of the vents and benches in the entryways. We got all the old tape off the shelf in the Service Office. She put new tape down around the rugs in front of the desk, while I cut out 34 squares of coloured paper. Later, we both stuck little signs on to the coloured paper, and then stuck THOSE to poles on each lane. Every lane is suppose to have one spray bottle of cleaner at at least two rolls of paper towel. Some of the lanes end up with more than needed of each, so we had to go from lane to lane and make sure they only had one bottle and two towels. They are always really pushing to get people to sign up for the store credit card, and have a box of aps glued to each lane. They were low on many of the lanes, and we were told to fill them all up.
By the time we had finished all of that, we had reached the OT limit we were told we could have. That, was at 2:30!!
Afterward, I got us some Dove ice cream bars, and she got us fruit juice. We walked out to the lot together, and then went home! I walked through the door of my house at three in the morning!!
LONG long night, but really fun. They had wanted me to work today, as trainer. I told them no. My plan had been to go see Rachel today, and if she was busy then I was going to go over to Missy’s. When Dad heard that I was going to be held over, he said “Your boss is determined to get you to work Monday, isn’t he?” I told him that too, my boss I mean, that my Dad had said that. He laughed at it and faked an evil laugh, saying something about that being his plan.
Because I got home so late, I kinda scrapped my plans for the day. They got buried even more as the morning progressed. Yes. I said morning. I got up in the morning, can you believe it? You will hardly see me in the morning when I have been home all night, but I got up around 10 this morning. Why you may ask? Cause my boss called me. {My carousel boss}
She wanted to tell me that she was taking my Tuesdays over and I needed to pick another day…..or, I could leave. She did not mean for it to sound as bad as it did at first. For some reason, she keeps thinking I am quiting RIGHT NOW. So, she was trying to give me an ‘out’. I told her that I didn’t need an out…I was going to get out when I needed to, but at the moment, I cant afford to get out. {If I wanted to make as much at Meijer as I do in five hours at the Carousel, I would have to work a full eight hour day.}
That put a damper on my day early on! Tuesdays has been the perfect day for me to work there. Mondays has two reasons against working it. 1) I really don’t like working Mondays! lol. 2) Rachel often gets that day off, and at some point in time I would like to drive over there to see her again. The only other day that leaves is Thursday, since I am now working 2 hours on Wednesdays at Meijer. Thursdays has two somethings against it as well. 1)Thursday is the only day of the week that Tiff does not have any jobs. Though we often do things together after she works on another day, Thursdays is the day we can plan an all day event, going out shopping or dinner, without the need of getting back in time for me to go to work. 2) I guess the same could be said about working Mondays…but this way I work Wed-Sun.
Oh well.
I think I will pick Monday and then try and switch one day when I want to go see my cousin. It is only until Vacation time. Then I will have to decide again, if I want to go back to the carousel while I am Fest going, or not. We shall see. Right now, I cant not work that one day a week. It is helping so much, and I have my budget all worked out with that one day in there, so that I have more than enough money for this summer. I think it would be foolish for me to throw in the towel just now.
Even though my day started out not so well, it has ended pretty well.
Hope all is well with the lot of you!
