The sun rises after the rain.

So even though my weekend did not go so great at work, my Monday was great!!! I have never been a real fan of Mondays, but I have not always hated them. These days, my Mondays are a good day to be really lazy. Yesterday, I instead used it to get some things done!
First, I got up in the MORNING, something that is odd for the day after work,for me. By shortly after 10 I was out the door and down at a Salvation Army looking for some new jeans. I needed two pair…one just for jeans, cause I don’t have many that fit anymore, and one that was able to be cut up to pair with some of that fabric I got for my garb, and make a skirt. I only found one pair that I liked, so I will not be using these for the skirt. I also picked up some more vests to make into some corsets for some of the friends that will be joining me this year {Or at least that hope to join. I want to make them for them anyway.} And a second red short for my pirate costume.
My shopping did not take as long as I thought it would, so I was on my way before expected. The plan had been for me to drive over and see my cousin, Rachel, one of them I talk about often. The night before, however, she had called to let me know that her husband was going to be just down the street working and that she could tag along with him, and I could save on gas by just meeting her there.
Even though I thought it would be a little bit too early {She had a late night at work and was going to sleep in the car} I arrived at the store before noon, and she was ready. We were both starving, as neither of us had eaten breakfast, so off we went to find a good place at which to stop and eat. KFC and A&W sounded good to the both of us, so we sat in there and talked for over an hour. It was the first time since she got married that we have hung out just the two of us like that. I have seen her at least two other times since January, but the first time was at her house, and there were two others there, and the next time it was here at my house…so everyone else was here.
I love KFC food….just thought I would add that in there!! A&W cheese curds also are GREAT!! YUM YUM!! I have never had fries from a KFC, but the ones we got were really good!! Ok enough about food!!
We went over to a nearby mall, but the place is dead! Not in the best neighborhood anyway, so we opted out of a mall walk. Instead, we went to Canterbury Village. I really like it there. It is such a simple place, really, but its fun. I think we figured out one of the reasons yesterday. There is a place around here called Greenfield Village. Everything is set up like an old town, and there are people walking all around dressed in period costume and speaking in old tongue. Its wonderful. We have only been there once or twice, and she came with us once. It is too expensive to go back right now, so I think of CV as my substitute.
I found some really cute cards!!! So those of you that I write to….new stationary on the way to enjoy! lol. I got these ones cause the saying on the front fit me so perfectly I thought, and the little picture on the front was named Sam.
My cousin and I spent nearly all afternoon together. We drove back to the store around 4 and they left shortly before 5. {We hung out in the store and talked to some ppl there that she knew, before her hubby came out and said it was time to leave.}
All in all, a really nice relaxing day! I always enjoy spending time with her. We have both seemed to grow up so much the past few years. We have gotten along well for awhile now, but it has only been in the last two or three years, that I feel, we have gotten closer. I really think of her as more than just a cousin, and as a good friend.
While driving back home from saying goodbye to my cousins, it hit me. I am so very thankful for my car!!!! It may sound weird to some, but I am very very, and for more than one reason. There are some people I know who for some reason, make me feel younger than I am, when I am around them. {My cousin is not one of them…} However, when the three of us walked out of the store, I told my cousin, ‘You have to come get your stuff out of my car before you leave.” How great that felt to be able to say that. It really is MY car!! Its in my name, I pay for gas for it, and I help pay for repairs and insurance.{though I will say once again I have an awesome Dad who helps out so much with those last two!} Being that it was a nice day, the window was down, as I drove from Waterford back to Auburn Hills. {I like the windows on my car. There is no frame above them, so when the window is down and you open the door, it makes it seem more like a sports car to me.} Again, as silly as it might sound, as I was making my way back home, I felt so much like a ‘grown up’ and MAN was that a nice feeling. I forget sometimes that I am one. Not because my family treats me like a little girl. I have great parents who have always treated me as a young lady, and now as an adult. So it has nothing to do with that. I just don’t always think of myself as an adult, but still often as a kid. I even purchased my first set of windshield wipers!! This past Friday, the 21st, marked two years since I got Mandie!!!
Today was another ‘early’ morning as I needed to get up and be ready for our neighbors funeral at 10:30. I was glad that we were able to go, and show the family support. Caeley sobbed and sobbed! The ladies in the row ahead of us handed her a box of tissues and kept looking back to see that she was ok!
I was so tired out from the crying that I myself did this morning, that I fell asleep on the couch this afternoon. Mum, the kids and I went to the library. When we got home, I started in on one of the books I had picked up. {I really like the writing style of this new author I found, Penelope Stokes. I got a few more of her books out, and had started on one} I soon found i could not keep my eyes open. Everything was blurring and my head was bobbing back and forth. Before I knew it…wush…I was out. Though I woke up many times, some from noises in the room, others from the falling feeling I was getting from my roller coaster dreams, I slept for about two hours there in the living room. I forgot to ask if I heard right, but I thought I heard Mum say something about me talking in my sleep. I know I do that from time to time, but I didn’t ask this time what it was I was saying. Often, I do that when I am medicated….like the times I have come home from surgery.
So, great Monday, nice Tuesday. I could handle all my weeks starting this well!!
