Carmella's Hang Out

Tonight, Mum  came to pick me up from work and then she and I went over to the store where I use to work. While there, I found out that a very dear friend of mine passed away Tuesday. She was like another Grandma, and always made you feel like you were the most special person to her.
She spent much of her last few years in and out of the hospital, and it was due to this that I have not seen her in months.
I just sent her a Christmas card about a week ago.
She fought it hard, and was such a strong lady, even though her illness tried to make her weak. In the end, it won, and while we knew it could be coming soon, it still hurts.
It was a really lousy way to end a lousy afternoon/evening.
And in the morning…I have to tell the kids. Man, that is going to be hard to do.
This is the second elderly friend this year to die. I have lost many of these past few years. Guess that is the problem with becoming such great friends with those 50 years my senior.
Mary Ann was 73, and she called us all “My kids”.
