I had called the medical supply place the other day, and was disconnected before I could find anything out. After that, I decided to give it a bit more time, and just leave it alone, cause I was getting to frustrated about the entire situation.

Friday {Yesterday} my dad was going to stop in there anyway, to get new parts for a machine he uses. I asked if he would mind checking on my order, and see if they would tell him anything more, since he was the hospital employee. Not long before we were to head out the door to get to PT, Dad called the house to say that the medical supply store did not have my prescription, or my letter of medical necessity. :( He said that he was going to call us later and give us some numbers to call, and perhaps have the ladies at my PT send a fax again of the Rx and letter.

Half way through my therapy, my therapist said “I just saw your Mom peek in here.” I tried to think of a reason as to why she would be looking for me and said that she probably wanted to give me an update on the whole IFC issue. My therapist then asked “Oh, is your Dad coming to therapy today?” I was confused as to why she would ask this, but said that no, he was just going to call, not actually show up…there was no need to. She then said “Nope, he did come! They are right here!” I looked up to see both Dad and Mum standing there. {Dad still in his scrubs, he had not even gone home to change first!!! He came right to my therapy} They both had goofy grins on, and Dad handed me a black bag, which I needed no explanation for! I began to gasp {trying to hold back the tears} ‘You got my machine?!?! They gave it to you?! HOW? I thought they didn’t know what was going on??” Dad told me that they all greatly apologized for how long it took to get to me, and they did not let him leave the store without the machine this time!

Turns out, that very first day, back on February 13th, when I took in my prescription to them….they were suppose to have handed me the machine!! They had it right there in the shop, but they were training new people and they didn’t know what they were doing. They didn’t have the prescription or letter, because it was all at the insurance company. It was suppose to be that they give me the machine, send in the request to insurance, then one of those companies would get in touch with my doc and get the letter. Those that knew how this all worked, had no idea I didn’t already have my machine, which is why they were all a bit confused as to why I would call so often, and be so involved in this process!!

Already I have done two treatments!! I LOVE IT!! Right now, in fact, I have the leads on, they are just not connected to the machine! heh. I didn’t take them off after this morning, so that I didn’t have to get anyone to help me when I needed to do it again. Not sure I will do this all the time, though, cause I am a bit worried about damaging the wires…and the sticky pads are not the most comfortable thing to have on all day! lol. Knowing me I will start an allergic reaction from having them on so long!

I fell bad though. I asked Dad how much it cost, or if it was all covered….and he would not tell me. This means, I know, that it was not cheap! :( I feel really bad about that! They have already paid so much for my back injury, and while this is going to be such a life saver to me, I was hoping it was also not going to be expensive. I have such good parents!!! :)

So, here are a few photos of my new IFC unit. Mum wants to get a photo of me while its on, cause I get a really spaced out goofy look! lol. Maybe that will come later.

It all comes in a tiny carrying case! This is where I can hold not only the machine, since it really is rather small, but also the wires, the pads, the batteries, and the plug.
The Case

Here is the top of the machine. This is the control panel. It is pretty easy to use!!

This is the front of the machine. It has a battery pack that plugs in there at the bottom, or I can plug in something that allows me to plug it into the wall, and not go through so many batteries.

The front

There is a clip on the back, so that I can carry it around with me when it is on batteries. I am not totally stuck in one place when it is plugged into the wall though, cause it has a very nice long cord!!

The back

And there you go! You have now been introduced to my Interferential Current Unit! :)
