A day for dreams

When I said that I would only be able to go to Silver Leaf once this year, I meant it. That was what I thought, I should say. Through a great amount of kindness on the part of a Ren Fest member, Kade and I were able to take the kids to the festival!! Dad allowed us to take the car again, and he drove David in to work with the van…a huge deal given the fact the van has not been working well and there was not guarantee that it would make it. {I made sure to make it home in time to run and pick David up from work that night}
Even though I knew about it in advance, we kept it a secret from the kids. If they had known before hand, they would have had a hard time sleeping the night before, and they would have had a hard time waiting for Saturday to arrive. This time, we did not have to be there so early, and since the first show we had to be there for did not start till 12, there was not HUGE rush to be there by gates. Though, that is what we wanted, and that is what we got! heh. K-D and I got up at 6:30 and got ready. Mum woke the kids up around 7 and had them get into their ‘Good Guy’ costumes. Keep in mind they still knew nothing about what was going on, so they were not sure why 1) Mum was getting them up so early….during summer and 2) why they had to put on their costumes. We made them wait a bit longer once they got down stairs, but then gathered them up in the kitchen and asked if they knew what was going on. Caeley said she had an idea, but didn’t want to say it cause she was sure that she was right and she did not want to spill the beans. Both she and Katren, thought we were doing a photo shoot. I said that yes we would be taking photos. They asked if it was possible they would be taking photos with KOI….I told them that KOI would be there and I was sure we would take photos with them….but did they know where? I let them in on the plans that had been in the making for the past week, and the shouts and giggles of joy began
The drive was great, again, and we made great time.
Unlike last year, I got to see every one of the King Arthur shows!! It was so awesome! The kids had a blast at them all too. It really made their day {and mine} when the characters recognized them! They each got photos with their KOI counterparts, and the smiles they wear say it all!!
Sadly, as I had worried….my camera battery began to die as soon as I walked through the gate!! *tear* I had not charged it, and was ’sure’ it would have power enough! Since I got to bed later than I wanted, and did not know if I could charge the thing before it was fully dead, I did not bother to check and see that it was just about ready to die! THANKFULLY, I had the for-sight to bring my old camera! I would have been so very bummed if I was unable to take any photos at all. The pictures are not as good as they would have been had they been taken on my great little new cam from David….but they are photos of our day nonetheless! heee.
Here are some of my favourites.

Caeley as her ‘Knights Of The Patio Table’ character Delgris, along side KOI’s Grisandole.

I really like how this one turned out!! Lancelot, a Knight of the Round Table, fights with his arch enemy, Percard Knight Of The Black Lawns.

The King stops Mordred’s hand.

The kids practice their fighting stance, with Sir Gawaine.

Gawaine teaches the kids how to laugh like a Knight.

Huntress seems to like whatever idea D’Khan just came up with!

Chiyome has swords!!

Shhhhhh, Huntress is hiding…she is waiting for the Queen.

Morganna was yelling something at Grisandole, just before she ran off to chase the Queen.

I took these one right after the other. heh. I found that funny. Mordred is on the left, Percard on the right.

Smooshing the pointed noses of the meeces together.

The kids and the Story Teller

Riding horses with Lancelot.

Sammy poses as Hunter, with his favourite KOI girl, Huntress.

Percard….pretending to be a play structure?

Katren as Queen Genevieve with KOI’s Queen Guinevere
As always the rest of the photos are on both Myspace and Facebook.
