I always take too long to update!

Wow. Today was SOOO insane!! We started out the morning at work, with Me, Manager CA, Js, and Mayo. Later in the morning, TS came in….today was her fourth day on the job. The owner {Manager CA’s Dad} also came to help out for a few hours. Things ran smoothly….’cept for the stupid coffee shortage I had at one point. YAY for someone ordering five large double doubles or whatever they were, taking ALL of my coffee. Took me forever to catch up after that. Mayo left around 9 {though I had her look at our family photos first, and she said she liked them. This is a big plus, as I can not figure out where I stand with her….so when she says things like “WOW!! You look so different! Older even. You are just so cute here!” it is a good thing. As I have always said….I do not have to be liked….just don’t want to be disliked!} By noon it was down to me, Js, TS, and Manager CA. Oy. That when it happened. PEOPLE! They just kept coming!! We often get a bit of a rush around 12, these days, which is why I try to get my list done before noon. Since we had been rather steady for the hours before that, it was not possible for me to get it all done when we were HIT. CA was on food station, Js was on drive through, and tried to help out on counter when time permitted, the new girl TS, was on front counter, and I manned the other front counter….as well as getting things for drive through when I could. Oh the soup and sandwich combo’s we sold! No lie, we sold so many we RAN out of some of our soup! We had even had a back up of two of them and were sold dry on the one at least. Plus, we ran out of premade soup bags {larger bags that contain a spoon, two packs of salt and two of pepper, and napkins all ready for a bowl of soup.} so I was often running over to make up a few for drive through, when not putting together a ‘eat in’ soup tray for my order!!
There was no way for me to get the bathrooms clean {see how broken up about it all I am?} as I was hard pressed to even get our dishes cleaned and put back out! We ran out of the china soup bowls for eat in trays, had no food trays at all, china cups were low, most of the tables were dirty and in need of clearing, though I had managed to get the coffee pots delimed, all the glass cleaned around the front counter {WHY we call it ‘front counter’ when there is no ‘back counter’ I don’t know…but we do, and even knowing how silly it is, I cant seem to break this fast learned habit!} as well as cleaning all the glass in the doors and wiping them all down. I was also able to get a bunch of soup bags made up before leaving, so that they would not be left doing it after.
When I hired in, there were two other girls hired at the same time. Within three weeks {I am pretty sure it was less time…but that is still within} the other two were gone, and I was the only one left. This time, three more people were hired, and when asked why CA answered that he figured at least one would not work out. Turned out to be right, as one of those three never showed up for work on Tuesday, nor has she made any contact since! I have yet to meet one of the new people, but have now worked with TS twice. I am pretty sure I said that ‘we shall have to see how she works out’ and that statement was further cemented today!! She was bossing us all around in no time today….things I don’t even do after working there for three months!! When you are on front counter…you are to make sure that lobby is kept clean. However, customers still come first. If, while you are out cleaning the tables, someone walks in, you are to leave the cleaning and help them. She was on front counter, and anytime she was out cleaning the tables, she would tell us over headset to go get front counter!! Mind you…..I was getting the dishes caught up at the time, and Js was refilling our stock of donuts after selling five dozen to one person!! Yet, she seemed to think we were less busy that she was, and should go get counter for her. I thought I was the only one who noticed it till Js came up and whispered that it was getting really old to be bossed around by the new girl. She was even upset when the one o’clock girl {who is a school girl…and comes from school to work…} was not yet there at two minutes to one. Didn’t this person know one was when she was to get off…..were they always going to be showing up late like that? Not fun. But…I smile. heh.
I picked up part of Sammy’s Christmas gift last night when I took the car down for David to get home. It hurt a little…as it is a photo of a Red Wing *cringe* but I think I shall live. They did not seem to have any Ducks….a fact I was not happy with!
The guy at the store said that, if I did not see a Sidney Crosby photo I liked for my brother, I could always buy the jersey! I figured, whatever it cost was going to be FAR too much to spend on one gift for an eight year old!! heh. I stuck with the Red Wing photo, since it is also one of his favourite players. It is nice to have some of my Christmas gifts all done already!! For some that I do not want to purchase at the moment, I have bought gift cards. This way, I will have the money when the time comes, but have not had to store those things till Christmas. Money being short is always what I worry about when crunch time comes, and is often a problem. So I am doing all I can to NOT let that happen this year.
We had some car problems again this week. GRR!! As of now, we are back to having both the van and the car, Praise The Lord, but it was another nail biting few days as we waited to see if more would go wrong. The van now has heat, though, and I am ever so thankful for it!! Though the past two or three days have been VERY pretty {temps up around 60!!} winter is on its way, and my back can tell!! Being warm on the way into work can mean good things for the rest of the day, where as being cold on the way to work can spell pain for the rest of the day.
Why did I think that there was something I was going to type about? I was sure there was. Strange.
I shall have to go get my camera and see if there are any new photos I can share.
